Personal project
I came across mixed media artworks on Behance which inspired me to create a few album artworks for my Spotify playlist covers.
Firstly, I worked with levels, posterizing and oil paint tools to get clear cutout shapes within the portrait in four different shades of grey. Then I used layering and masking techniques to mask each asset in a separate shade of the cutout. Using the "brick" typeface for the "Zayn" text further enhanced the artistic look. After a little experimentation, I managed to get the perfect mixed media art look.
